The turning point in 2020
After years as a driver for a food distributor that closed when COVID hit in March 2020, I let a coin flip decide whether I would keep going on my own.
Heads won.
A trailer, a bet, every dollar saved
A new chapter began: a small enclosed trailer my daughter and I converted into a refrigerated unit. I had exactly $9,500 in savings — every dollar went into that trailer. It had to work.

When growth becomes a “good problem”
Within a few years, growing demand meant the trailer was no longer enough. I moved forward as DAC Distribution Alimentaire Chevalier inc., added a truck, and worked with carriers to reach retailers across Quebec.

The birth of DAC Sélection
As the economy tightened, I asked suppliers to develop private-label products that were affordable without sacrificing quality. They agreed — and DAC Sélection was born.
What’s next? We’ll discover it together.
